PATOKA LAKE
Whether you prefer to travel by land or by water, Patoka Lake has it all. Appreciate the fall foliage on a boat tour or explore the property on foot or bike and take the trails that are fit for anyone. A
Patoka Lake Tour is offered every Wednesday from 10:00 am – Noon starting in April until the end of October. Specialty excursions including the Fall Foliage Wine Cruise are offered numerous times throughout September and October giving visitors the opportunity to unwind while taking in the view. Visitors can also enjoy 6.3 miles of paved biking trails (see map here) or get off the beaten path and immerse yourself into the wilderness on any of the three hiking trails (see map here). Reservations are required for boat tours.
French Lick Resort, home to French Lick Springs and West Baden Springs Hotels, has many places that will allow guests to revel in the fall foliage. If you prefer a long and challenging, yet relaxing afternoon, enjoy the fall scenery from The Donald Ross Course or The Pete Dye Course. 
If you prefer a guided tour but don’t want to do all of the walking, hop on a horse at The Stables and enjoy up to 8 miles of trails. However, if exercise, fresh air and exploring on your own sounds more appealing, explore more than 13 miles between the hiking and biking trails as you trek up the mountainside of The Hoosier National Forest to Mt. Airie. Don’t worry if you forget your bike! Rentals are available through the French Lick Resort at the Kids Fest Lodge.
Expanding over 1,100 acres, Wilstem Ranch has a lot to offer. This ranch sits on the edge of the Hoosier National Forest and is a relaxing retreat of wooded hill
s and rolling pastures. Enjoy the fall foliage from up high and ride 9 different ziplines across a canopy tour. Unless you prefer your feet closer to the ground, then take a relaxing horseback ride across the pastures or get rowdy on the rugged terrain on their guided ATV tour. Reservations are required for all activities.
If you have a knack for trains and want to enjoy a unique but rewarding way to take in the fall foliage, hop aboard the French Lick Scenic Railway
. Relish on an 18 mile round trip voyage that will take you through parts of the Hoosier National Forest, through the 2,200 foot Burton Tunnel and past large limestone cuts while reveling in some of the best scenery you can find in the Midwest. Tickets can be purchased online or at the depot prior to departure.

What are the colors now? We’ve always have gone the 3rd. week in October, but here in Crown Point leaves are just turning a little. My son even had a honeymoon week-end in August with his bride from Japan and they loved the hotel.
